About the Program

Deepen Your Practice, Transform Your Teaching

A hybrid training designed for committed practitioners ready to explore the
Intermediate Series, classical philosophy, anatomy, and Ayurveda—blending
residential immersion with flexible online coursework.

  • Who Is This For?

Dedicated yoga practitioners and teachers who have completed a 200‑hour training and/or have established a consistent Ashtanga Vinyasa practice. You're ready to be committed and disciplined in your practice in order to experience genuine transformation. This program will provide participants with an experience of yoga that will bring greater depth and meaning to their practice and teaching. It is designed for those who are wishing to start incorporating the Intermediate Series postures into their self-practice, as well as those who already have an established practice in the Intermediate Series and are seeking the skills to be able to start incorporating this sequence into their teaching safely and effectively. This program is also for those seeking to bring more practical knowledge of biomechanics into their understanding of yoga asana, as well as knowledge about the history and current context of classical yoga philosophy.

    Hybrid Format

Two intensive 10-day residential modules at Alma del Búho retreat centre in Andalusia are woven together with structured online classes and coursework, allowing you to integrate learning into daily life.

    What Makes Us Unique

At the heart of this training is an extraordinary combination of teachers and place. Kamal Singh brings over two decades of Ashtanga mastery, celebrated worldwide for his energetic classes and transformative adjustments. Aly Simeone offers rare depth in both embodied practice and classical scholarship, holding a PhD candidacy in Medical Anthropology: Āyurveda, and an MRes in classical yoga philosophy, alongside her regular Ashtanga practice. Sebastián Arbondo contributes 27 years of Ashtanga practice with advanced training in physiotherapy, FRC, and Kinestretch, bringing a uniquely functional and body-intelligent approach to anatomy and biomechanics. Sunil Sharma, founder of Yoganga Healing in Rishikesh, brings over 25 years of teaching yoga, pranayama, and meditation, guiding students through the living teachings of the Bhagavad Gītā and the Haṭhayoga Pradīpikā. Together, this faculty teaches in the intimate setting of Alma del Búho—a welcoming and soulful retreat centre surrounded by olive groves, pine forests, and the warm light of southern Spain. Small cohort sizes ensure personal attention throughout.

  • Anatomy & Biomechanics for Yoga Āsana
    Sebastián Arbondo
E-RYT 500 · Yoga Alliance FRC / Kinestretch Certified Instructor
Physiotherapy Studies (Universidad) Founder, Ashtanga Yoga Osaka (13 years)

Born in Spain and drawn to movement from an early age, Sebastián has dedicated 27 years to the practice of Ashtanga yoga, beginning his journey under the guidance of his grandmother. His pursuit of holistic well-being led him to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and martial arts, before travelling through Asia and settling in Japan for over 15 years, where he founded Ashtanga Yoga Osaka. Seeking a deeper understanding of the human body, he returned to university to study physiotherapy — a decision motivated by his observation that as practitioners age, healthy movement requires more than yoga alone. He has studied under respected teachers including Rolf Naujkat, Dona Holleman, and Chuck Miller, and holds certifications in FRC and Kinestretch, a movement enhancement system developed by Dr Andreo Spina used by sports athletes and movement physicians worldwide. For this training, Sebastián will lead the module on Anatomy and Biomechanics for Yoga Āsana, guiding students towards a functional, body-intelligent understanding of how postures work — one grounded in the mechanics of joints, breath, and gravity rather than force.

  • Yoga Philosophy · Bhagavad Gītā
    Sunil Sharma
25+ Years Teaching Experience Diploma in Yoga Education, Kaivalyadhama
M.A. Psychology, Jodhpur UniversityFounder, Yoganga Healing, Rishikesh

Born in Rajasthan and drawn to yoga from an early age by life's deeper questions, Sunil Sharma has spent over 25 years teaching yoga, pranayama, and meditation in Rishikesh and across the world — from India to China, Dubai, and Europe. He holds a Diploma in Yoga Education from the prestigious Kaivalyadhama institute in Lonavla and a Master's degree in Psychology, bringing both classical yogic rigour and therapeutic insight to his teaching. In 2013 he founded Yoganga Healing in Rishikesh, a school dedicated to using ancient yogic tools — breath, awareness, and contemplative practice — as pathways to inner healing and transformation. Sunil will be contributing five lectures on the Bhagavad Gītā, exploring its teachings as a living guide for the dedicated practitioner. He will also introduce students to the Haṭhayoga Pradīpikā — one of the oldest and most foundational written works on haṭha yoga — offering students a rich encounter with the philosophical and practical teachings that shaped the practice.

Curriculum

Five Pillars of Study

A comprehensive curriculum that weaves together practice, theory, and the art of teaching.

Ashtanga Intermediate Series

Systematic exploration of the second series—posture by posture—with emphasis on breath, bandha, personalized modifications and alignment. You will also learn how to provide meaningful hands-on assists, and review assists pertinent to the primary series. The module includes an immersion in biomechanics for the practice of yoga asana, dedicated workshops on how to identify, prevent, and work around injury, workshops geared to the study of anatomy and biomechanics as they apply to the practice of yoga asana, and workshops in functional anatomy.

Yoga Philosophy

Tracing the history of yoga philosophy from the fertile intellectual and spiritual environment in which its foundational texts arose. Students engage directly with primary texts in translation—the Sāṃkhya Kārikā, the Yoga Sūtras, the Bhagavad Gītā, and the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā—understanding how different schools of thought contributed to the understanding of yoga we inherit today, and learning to weave philosophical insight into their teaching and personal practice.

Anatomy for Asana

Functional anatomy and biomechanics applied directly to yoga practice. Students gain the practical knowledge and skills needed to access the deeper benefits of their practice, while understanding how to avoid the long-term physical strains that can accompany an incorrect approach to asana. Learning to read the body with precision empowers both personal practice and confident, safe teaching.

Ayurveda

Students explore Āyurveda as one of the world's oldest empirical approaches to medicine and an enduring art of healing—tracing its historical roots and understanding how it came to be intimately connected with yoga philosophy and practice. The module examines the shared theoretical foundations between the two systems, and students also learn practical Āyurvedic tools—including daily routines, nutrition, and seasonal rhythms—to incorporate into their own lives and teaching.

Teaching Methodology

Advanced skills in sequencing, assisting, observation, and holding space. Practice teaching with mentored feedback throughout the training.
